Google Wallet's Redesigned Card Picker Reaches More Users
Google is widening the rollout of a redesigned Google Wallet card picker that stacks saved payment cards vertically instead of in a horizontal carousel, according to Android Authority.
The most visible difference concerns how the app presents saved debit and credit cards. Under the previous design, users swiped repeatedly through a horizontal carousel to reach a particular card. The redesigned interface instead stacks those cards vertically in an expanded list, so more of them can be seen at once and the one a user wants can be selected with a tap.
Android Authority reported that the redesign appears to leave the main Wallet screen relatively uncluttered. The stacked card view opens separately from that screen, while the other items stored in the app, including transit cards, loyalty cards and passes, remain accessible from the main screen.
When the redesigned picker was first spotted, availability seemed to be confined to a limited number of users. Its appearance now on additional devices points to a broader rollout in progress. The report did not specify how many accounts or which markets are included, nor did it give a timetable for the change to reach all users. Android Authority described the new look, which moves Wallet away from the carousel format, as Apple-inspired.
