Googlebooks Add Quick Access File Transfer, With a 200MB Limit

Googlebooks add Quick Access for phone-to-laptop file transfers under 200MB, plus Files AI for instant file descriptions.

The detail comes from a reviewer’s guide Google prepared for the launch of the new laptop line. Android Authority said it reviewed the document after pre-order shipments for the recently announced Googlebooks began. The guide describes the feature this way: “Browse, open, and transfer files between your phone and your Googlebook as easily as a local drive.”

Quick Access is presented as a way to control files between a paired Android phone and a Googlebook. Android Authority describes it as instant browsing or copying files between the two devices. The 200MB limit applies to Quick Access transfers, and the report says Google recommends Quick Share when users need to move larger files.

The same report says the Googlebooks will also include Files AI. That feature gives instant descriptions of files without requiring users to open them, according to Android Authority. The report presents Quick Access and Files AI as software features that may have flown under the radar.

The Googlebook lineup was recently announced, and pre-order shipments began yesterday, according to the report. Android Authority said the software still has aspects that are new, and it noted that it had learned about some Googlebook limitations earlier in the day before obtaining new information about the software features.

Android Authority reported the information after going through the reviewer’s guide, a document Google prepared for the launch. The guide states that users can browse, open, and transfer files between their phone and their Googlebook as easily as a local drive. The same document indicates that Quick Access is for files under 200MB and that Files AI will be included in the Googlebooks.
