Googlebooks Updates Add Samsung Phone Support to Better Together Features
Googlebook updates add Samsung phone support to Better Together features and fix setup, rolling out over the next few days.
The central change is support for Samsung phones running One UI 9 based on Android 17. With the update, those phones can use Better Together features that include Continue On, Cast My Apps, Quick Access, and Notification Sync. Googlebooks originally launched without support for Samsung devices, according to Android Authority, leaving some buyers unable to use cross-device features meant to make the laptops work seamlessly with Android phones.
Google is also releasing a Google Play Services update to make initial setup easier. That update is intended to fix an issue that sometimes leaves the setup QR code on the screen after pairing. Android Authority reported that the updates will roll out automatically over the next few days.
The features require Android 17, compatible service versions, and the correct connectivity settings, according to the report. Users who do not meet those requirements will not be able to use the new cross-device functions.
The rollout addresses two areas of problems reported since the Googlebooks became available: the setup process and the lack of Samsung phone support. Android Authority said the update will bring Samsung support to the Better Together features, while the Google Play Services update will simplify setup and resolve the QR code problem.
