Google’s Find people rolls out on Wear OS, but it’s not for finding people
Google is bringing Find people to Wear OS via Find Hub, letting contacts track your location from your watch, though setup starts on your phone.
The watch app handles most of the setup elsewhere. If you have not already configured location sharing, the watch shows an “Open on phone” button. Once you start sharing your location with someone through Find Hub on your phone, that person appears on the watch under “Can see your location,” along with how long the sharing session will last. The rollout was first spotted by 9to5Google.
The feature appears to be intended for letting others keep track of you when your phone is not around. On an LTE watch, your location can continue to be shared even if you leave your phone behind. This uses Google’s existing Location Sharing system, the same underlying setup used when people tracking arrived in Find My Device.
