GrapheneOS reverses Pixel 11 warning after finding MTE support in new firmware

GrapheneOS discovered Pixel 11 MTE hardware support after warning buyers away, potentially saving support for the new flagship.

A few days ago, GrapheneOS told users not to buy the Pixel 11 and said the phone lacked the necessary hardware MTE support. The reversal came after Google released Android 17 QPR2 Beta 4, the first beta version supporting the Pixel 11 series. GrapheneOS developers announced on X that references in the new firmware indicate the phones do have the MTE capability, despite earlier software suggesting otherwise.

The project is now testing MTE performance before deciding whether support for Pixel 11 is viable. The finding could keep GrapheneOS support alive for Google's latest flagship phones.
