Graphwise lands Oakley Capital investment to become semantic layer for AI agents
Graphwise secures Oakley Capital investment to expand globally and power AI agents with its GraphDB semantic layer.
The deal size was not disclosed. Oakley acquired the stake from a consortium of investors including Integral Capital Group, PortoLion Capital Partners, Carpathian Partners and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
GraphDB is designed to address the gap between raw data and the actionable knowledge needed to enhance large language models, Graphwise says. Unlike traditional Structured Query Language databases, GraphDB stores contextual data alongside business records, such as information about which specific store a sale took place in. It uses a knowledge graph to create an intelligent fabric that connects content and data, encoding relationships, hierarchies and metadata so AI models can derive user intent, suggest related topics and support scenario-based recommendations.
According to Graphwise, this architecture grounds large language models in a reliable, governed layer of verifiable enterprise facts, reducing the hallucinations and reasoning gaps that AI agents often exhibit. GraphDB supports autonomous agents through a technique called GraphRAG, which retrieves precise, contextual information for prompts. This is particularly useful for regulated, data-intensive industries such as financial services, healthcare and life sciences, where strict data governance, auditability and compliance are essential.
Another advantage, Graphwise says, is cost efficiency: feeding models specific contextual information rather than masses of unstructured data can dramatically reduce token consumption.
Oakley Capital founder and Managing Partner Peter Dubens said trusted, well-governed data is more important than ever because every enterprise wants to make the most of AI agents. "Graphwise has built an exceptional platform to solve that challenge and has already demonstrated impressive growth," he said in a statement.
Graphwise, whose president is Antanas Kiryakov, already counts more than 200 blue-chip customers and has an annual recurring revenue growth rate of more than 30%, according to SiliconANGLE. The company will work closely with Oakley to enhance its commercial capabilities and expand its footprint into international markets.
