Grok Bot Upgrades Intelligence to Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5

Grok Bot now uses Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5 for intelligence, replacing less capable SpaceXAI/Cursor models amid agent-app competition.

Grok Bot now uses Claude Opus 5.5 for intelligence, according to the report. As of the report, Grok Bot can use Claude Opus 5.5. The report said Anthropic became a SpaceX customer this year as it shopped for compute to power Claude usage. Grok Bot is available for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Grok Bot launched in August with dedicated apps for iPhone and iPad, according to 9to5Mac. The same report also says that an iPad version and more affordable plans arrived in September, an apparent inconsistency about when iPad availability began. SpaceXAI's Grok Bot kicked off the consumer-friendly AI agent app wave this summer, the report said.

The upgrade comes as Meta pushes its mostly-free Muse agent, newly available for iPad, and OpenAI builds out ChatGPT Dot, an Astra-powered proactive agent. Both are competing with Grok Bot in the consumer AI agent market, according to the report.
