The upgraded TMR technology measures the rotational angle of a magnet as it moves with the thumbstick, rather than changes in magnetic field strength. GuliKit says this keeps the magnetic field strength constant, enabling more accurate measurements and producing thumbsticks that are more precise, responsive, and stable.

The ES Max is compatible with all versions of the Nintendo Switch, as well as Windows and macOS PCs, iOS and Android mobile devices, and Steam. It costs more than the $29.99 ES Pro but remains cheaper than Nintendo's Switch 2 Pro Controller while offering additional features.

Other upgrades include two remappable back buttons, swappable thumbstick caps, and Hall-effect linear triggers that can be switched to micro-switches for shorter travel and faster reactions. GuliKit is also bundling a Hyperlink 2 Bluetooth adapter, which it claims provides lower latency for wireless play, and introducing its first mobile app for customizing, configuring, and updating the controller.
