GuliKit Launches Compact Travel Dock for Switch 2

GuliKit's $29.99 Switch 2 dock is a compact, affordable alternative to Nintendo's, featuring a stand and 4K output, though it lacks a built-in power adapter.

The dock features a magnetic cover for the USB-C connector, which doubles as a backrest when attached to the top. However, The Verge notes that the cover's magnets are relatively weak and can come off easily. On the underside, four rubber feet keep the dock in place, and a three-position sliding switch is supposed to extend the USB-C connector to accommodate consoles with protective cases. In the unit tested, moving the switch only changed the angle of the connector by a few degrees, which seemed of little use.

On the back, there is a 4K/60Hz HDMI port, a USB-A port for charging accessories, and a USB-C port supporting power delivery up to 100W. A small button disables dock mode and video output, turning the device into a charger for faster battery top-ups. Unlike the Genki Covert Dock, which has a built-in power adapter and plugs directly into an outlet, the GuliKit dock requires users to supply their own 60W adapter. The Verge's reviewer said this could be a downside for some but was not an issue for him since he already carries multiple suitable adapters.

The reviewer preferred the GuliKit dock over the Genki because it provides a stand for the console, which the Genki lacks, making it a better fit for travel. He also noted that at $29.99, the GuliKit dock is less than half the price of the Genki, and it is a much cheaper alternative to Nintendo's $124.99 dock set for connecting the Switch 2 to multiple TVs at home, though it omits an Ethernet port.
