H Company cofounder Charles Kantor launches AI neocloud startup Blackfuel
Charles Kantor, cofounder and former CEO of Paris-based AI agent startup H Company, has launched Blackfuel, an AI neocloud focused on inference workloads, according to Sifted.
Kantor left H Company just over a year ago. At the time of his departure, the startup had raised $220 million in seed funding, the report said, describing H Company as a buzzy AI company. H Company works on agentic AI, software designed to carry out tasks on a user's behalf, and is based in Paris.
The new company, Blackfuel, is positioned as a neocloud, a category of AI-focused cloud provider that sells access to GPU capacity for AI work. Its stated focus is inference, the stage at which a model that has already been trained is used to answer queries or perform tasks, rather than the construction and training of the models themselves.
The report did not provide details of Blackfuel's funding, backers, launch date or customer agreements. It also did not say how many staff the company has hired or where it is registered.
Kantor's move follows a period in which several European AI founders have left established labs and startups to build infrastructure businesses intended to serve companies deploying AI models at scale. H Company has continued operating in the agentic AI market since his departure.
