Hacking attempts on South Korea's court network surge to 239,145 this year
Hacking attempts against South Korea's court network reached 239,145 in the first eight months of this year, about 2.4 times the same period last year and already above the full-year total for last year, court data showed.
The National Court Administration data was submitted to Rep. Kim Dong-ha of the ruling Democratic Party, Yonhap News reported. The January-August figure already exceeds the 141,528 hacking attempts recorded for all of last year.
By month, March had the highest number of attempts with 48,263 cases. May followed with 39,915 cases, and June with 34,083 cases, according to the data.
Annual totals in recent years were 142,514 in 2021, 126,212 in 2022, 114,070 in 2023 and 98,171 in 2024. The figures show a decline in annual hacking attempts before the increase in the first eight months of this year.
