HeyGears G1X Series brings 2D UV and 3D texture printing to desktop users

HeyGears G1X brings 2D UV and 3D texture printing to the desktop, printing on 400+ materials. Packages cost $2,799 and $3,099 after cashback, much less than industrial 3D printers.

The 2D UV mode enables full-color printing on substrates such as plastic, metal, wood, glass, ceramic, leather and acrylic. Using HeyGears' Blueprint Studio slicer, the software automatically detects the edges of materials placed on the print bed, letting users import, rescale and print designs. A rotary attachment for cylindrical items like water bottles, vases and rods is also available at launch.

According to Android Authority, the G1X prints up to 12 times faster than traditional F1080 UV printers. It holds G7 top-level color certification and uses wide-gamut inks, including light cyan and light magenta, to produce consistent, professional color.

For added depth, the 3D-texture mode can apply relief up to 150 mm high, with a suggested height of 5 mm. The review cautioned that very thin materials may curl and lift during printing, potentially ruining the job. The printer's build plate uses a replaceable positioning sheet, and several spares are included, so a failure costs only a sheet and time.

The full-color 3D printing pack carries an MSRP of $5,499 and a Kickstarter price of $3,599, which drops to $3,099 after HeyGears' cashback. In contrast, many industrial full-color 3D printers cost from $50,000 to over $200,000. HeyGears has made photopolymer 3D printing hardware for industrial and professional clients since 2015.
