Hide.me VPN updates Android and Android TV apps with new dashboard and SmartGuard
Hide.me VPN updated its Android and Android TV apps with a new dashboard, SmartGuard on TV, and protocol fixes.
The redesigned dashboard appears on both Android mobile and Android TV, and Hide.me says it makes connection settings easier to reach and helps users choose a server with fewer taps. The Android TV app now includes SmartGuard, which was previously limited to other platforms. The tool blocks intrusive ads, stops hidden trackers and keeps users away from malicious websites, according to the company. Smart TVs and streaming boxes are often used to track viewing behavior and target ads, and the update gives Android TV users the same blocking capability available to mobile users.
The release also includes technical changes. Hide.me has added stability improvements and MTU optimization for WireGuard, which the company says helps keep data encryption stable when mobile connections are unstable, including when users switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data. SSTP support has been improved with hostname and IPv6 global address compatibility. The dashboard now shows speed indicators so users can identify faster servers at a glance, and Korean has been added to the app's supported languages.
Existing users should receive the update automatically, depending on their device's auto-update settings. New users can download the latest version from Google Play Store. Hide.me also offers a free tier, which lets users test its no-logs policy and encryption without entering credit card details, TechRadar reported.
