Hohem unveils 'world's first' 2-in-1 pocket gimbal camera with detachable design at IFA 2026
At IFA Berlin 2026, Chinese company Hohem introduced the Eyepic, a 2-in-1 pocket gimbal camera with a detachable magnetic camera unit, targeting casual vloggers and potentially challenging DJI.
TechRadar, which attended a demo and spoke with Hohem representatives, reported that the Eyepic's defining feature is its versatility. The camera captures native 4K vertical video at up to 60 frames per second, ideal for social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram Reels. Rotating the built-in 2.51-inch touchscreen reorients the camera to landscape mode, enabling seamless switching between formats.
The camera unit can be detached from the gimbal entirely. It is magnetic, allowing hands-free shooting by attaching the unit to a lanyard or other accessories such as a tripod or a fridge, the company explained. When detached, the gimbal retracts and locks, while the touchscreen provides a 1080p live preview of the action. The camera is also highly waterproof, with Hohem saying it can withstand depths of about 10 meters (32.8 feet) for underwater video.
Hohem said the Eyepic is aimed at casual, everyday users and vloggers rather than those seeking professional-grade video. TechRadar noted that the device supports slow-motion recording, though likely at a lower resolution such as 1080p. From the demo, TechRadar said the Eyepic appeared capable of capturing smooth, high-resolution video in a flexible and versatile manner, which could help it stand out against established rivals like DJI and Insta360.
The company did not disclose pricing, but TechRadar was told the model is expected to launch around the time CES 2027 begins in early 2027.
