HomePad may act like a giant Apple Watch, macOS beta code suggests
A code dive in the latest macOS 26.7 beta suggests Apple’s upcoming HomePad will sport watch-style faces and only show personal widget data when your iPhone is nearby.
A deeper look at the code, as found by Engadget’s Filipe Espósito, also provides significant clues about the HomePad’s interface. While the device is likely to run a variant of tvOS like other HomePods, its home screen will be quite different, featuring “Faces” and a “Face Gallery.” These are described as similar to Apple Watch faces but larger, and they appear to be customizable with widgets and Smart Stacks that change throughout the day.
The code also points to a privacy feature: the HomePad will only display personal information in its widgets if it detects that the user’s iPhone is nearby.
9to5Mac notes that two variants of the HomePad are expected, one with a speaker base that may resemble a HomePod, and another intended for wall mounting. The report also mentions references to additional unknown devices, with the author expressing hope that a smart doorbell is among them.
