Honda Reaffirms Momenta ADAS Partnership, Sets Rollout From 2027 Models

Honda has reaffirmed its intelligent driving partnership with Momenta and said the technology will enter models starting in 2027. Momenta remains the only high-level intelligent driving supplier among Honda’s showcased Chinese technology partners, while Huawei provides smart cockpit functions.

The cooperation announced earlier covers highway and urban NOA as well as parking scenarios, the report said. At the meeting, Honda presented its Chinese technology partners. Momenta was the only high-level intelligent driving supplier selected; Huawei provides only smart cockpit capabilities.

Honda's statement gave the partnership a clearer production timetable. The automaker said the relevant technology will be gradually introduced in models that go on sale from 2027. According to media statistics cited in the report, Honda sold more than 3.5 million vehicles globally in 2025, ranking ninth worldwide. For Momenta, the value of working with Honda is not limited to a mass-production project in China. The company sees a global top automaker's supply chain as a foundation for expanding to more models and markets.

Technology development is also widening the possible scope of cooperation. Momenta's R7 world model seeks to understand object attributes, motion patterns and the interactions among traffic participants, improving prediction and planning in complex scenarios. That direction could support adaptation to road environments in different countries and exploration of higher-level autonomous driving, according to the report.

The companies' experience in development, adaptation and mass production, built first through the China cooperation, may later extend to more Honda global models. It could also create conditions for cooperation to move from L2 advanced driver assistance to L3 conditional autonomous driving. Honda's renewed emphasis on the Momenta partnership reflects a broader trend of global automakers deepening cooperation with Chinese intelligent-driving companies. The report said Momenta's partner list includes Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Honda, Toyota and General Motors, covering leading German, Japanese and US automakers. Leiphone described the roster as making Momenta a common choice among global brands.

Momenta's intelligent driving systems have been installed in more than 1.2 million vehicles, and the company has partnerships with 27 automakers worldwide, with the largest number of international customers in the industry, according to the report. In the third-party urban NOA supplier market, Momenta holds a 65% share, ranking first. It is also the first Chinese company to achieve global-scale mass production of intelligent driving solutions. Its mass-production solutions have been deployed in more than 10 countries and regions across Asia, Europe, Oceania, Latin America and North Africa, supporting mainstream automakers' overseas expansion.

Those partnerships outline Momenta's In China, for Global path: refine technology in China and reach world markets through global automakers' product systems. Compared with expanding overseas through exports of Chinese-brand vehicles, Momenta's approach may enter global automakers' model development and localized mass-production systems directly, using their established brands, channels and user bases. The report said the strategic advantage is that growth can connect multiple global brands and regional markets, reducing dependence on any single brand's export scale and turning intelligent-driving capabilities accumulated in China into a reusable technology base for global models.

Editor's Summary Honda's renewed Momenta partnership sets a 2027 start for mass-production models and keeps the Chinese supplier as Honda's only high-level intelligent driving partner among its showcased Chinese technology providers. Momenta's growing roster of global automakers, installed base and urban NOA market share show how Chinese intelligent-driving technology is moving into worldwide vehicle programs. The cooperation could expand from China projects to more Honda models and from L2 assistance toward L3 conditional automation.
