HP Smart Tank 6001 Drops to $200 with Two Years of Free Ink, Says TechRadar
HP Smart Tank 6001 ink tank printer is on sale at Amazon for $200, nearly half off, with two years of free ink included, according to TechRadar.
The printer combines print, scan, and copy functions, and features refillable ink tanks, automatic duplex printing, and wireless connectivity. TechRadar highlights that it comes with enough ink for up to 8,000 color pages or 6,000 black-and-white pages, which it says can last up to two years. In the UK, the same model is known as the HP Smart Tank 6005, currently priced at £179 (was £250) at Currys, with three years of free ink included.
The report notes that tank printers like this one are favored because they use bottled ink instead of expensive cartridges, offering a more economical and convenient refill process. The flatbed scanner is useful for digitizing documents, while the copier handles physical copies. Automatic duplexing saves effort on longer print jobs, and borderless printing supports photos and creative projects. It also includes HP's AI-assisted formatting, which can clean up web pages and emails before printing.
However, TechRadar points out potential drawbacks. The print speed is a maximum of 12 pages per minute in black and 7 pages per minute in color, which could be slow for large jobs. There is also no automatic document feeder, meaning users must place each page on the flatbed individually when scanning or copying multi-page stacks. Despite these caveats, the deal is considered excellent, as the lowest price previously seen at Amazon was $195. For comparison, Best Buy lists the same printer at $200, with a regular price of $414.
