Huawei Launches Mate XT2 Trifold; Qijing GX7 SUV Opens Pre-Sales
Huawei's third-generation Mate XT2 trifold phone arrives with an optional privacy screen, while Qijing Motor's GX7 SUV, co-developed by GAC and Huawei, starts at 249,900 yuan with L3-ready architecture.
According to technology outlets The Verge and ifanr, the Mate XT2 folds both sides of its 10.2-inch flexible screen inward, a design that follows Samsung's Galaxy Z TriFold. The Verge reported it is the first foldable to include a privacy-enhancing display, similar to the one Samsung added to the Galaxy S26 Ultra this year. Huawei calls this function "double-tap stealth mode": when enabled, the inner screen uses narrow-angle pixels, making it appear black from the side while remaining visible head-on.
The privacy screen is a ¥1,000 add-on available only on the 16GB/1TB model, bringing that version's price to ¥25,000. The phone starts at ¥19,999 for the 16GB/256GB configuration. All versions will go on sale in China on September 12.
The Mate XT2 is powered by Huawei's new Kirin 9050 Pro chipset and runs HarmonyOS 7. Ifanr reported an IP58/IP59 rating for dust and water resistance, a triple rear camera with a 1/1.28-inch main sensor, continuous physical aperture from f/1.49 to f/4, and ECG heart analysis that uses the metal frame as an electrode. The device weighs under 300 grams and measures 3.5mm at its thinnest point when unfolded.
Separately, Leiphone.com reported that Qijing Motor opened pre-sales for the GX7 at the September 4 event in Nansha, Guangzhou. The SUV is positioned as the industry's first "wide five-seat" model, with a 5,099mm length, 3,070mm wheelbase and more than two meters of longitudinal cabin space. Three extended-range trims are offered: Ultra at ¥249,900, Ultra Dual-Motor at ¥269,900 and Ultra Tri-Motor at ¥311,900. Official launch will take place within September.
Leiphone.com also said the GX7 is the only SUV in its class to launch on an L3-ready architecture, with redundant power, sensing and positioning systems. It carries Huawei's Qiankun ADS 5 driving system, four LiDAR sensors and 38 high-performance sensors, plus a CATL battery that provides 385km of pure-electric range and over 1,500km of combined range. An 800V architecture supports 5C fast charging from 30% to 80% in 10 minutes. Qijing CEO Liu Jiaming was quoted as saying the model "starts at L3" and has been designed to remain cutting-edge for five years. Huawei executive Jin Yuzhi added that the GX7 is equipped with "Huawei's newest and most complete seven automotive intelligent solutions."
The GX7 is the second strategic model under Qijing Motor, according to Leiphone.com. It will be sold through more than 300 stores in 90 cities that combine Qijing authorized user centers with Huawei Qiankun experience centers.
