Huawei Mate XT 2 tri-fold phone goes up for pre-order with new inward-folding design
Huawei's next tri-fold Mate XT 2 is up for pre-order in China with a new inward-folding design and up to 1TB storage.
The biggest change is the hinge design. The original Mate XT used an outward-folding arrangement, but the Mate XT 2 folds inward, which keeps the inner display protected when the device is closed.
While no price has been announced, the Mate XT 2 will be offered with up to 16GB of RAM and storage choices of 512GB or 1TB. Pre-orders are now open on Vmall, though the listing currently does not show pricing information.
The tri-fold segment remains niche, with manufacturers moving cautiously. Huawei launched the original Mate XT as the first device in the category, followed by the Mate XTs. Samsung later introduced the Galaxy Z TriFold, but its sales run was short. With the Mate XT 2, Huawei is preparing to release its next-generation entry in this limited market.
