Huawei Pura X View hands-on video reveals smart one-handed UI feature
A new video shows the Huawei Pura X View automatically shifting screen elements based on which hand holds it, a feature that could benefit other wide phones.
The video, posted by reviewer Vincent Zhong on YouTube, demonstrates the keyboard aligning to the left or right side of the display depending on the hand in use. Call accept and reject buttons also switch to the edge corresponding to the holding hand, and some music player controls change sides as well.
Android Authority notes that it is unclear how Huawei detects the specific hand. The software may be registering a palm touching the left or right side of the screen. The reviewer also noticed that e-reader pages could be swiped via the power button, raising the possibility that detection is based on a finger touching that button. Another option would be sensors built into the frame, though a software-based approach would be cheaper.
Samsung and Huawei both released wide foldables in 2026, years after OPPO and Google first introduced the form factor. Huawei's Pura X View is a conventional non-folding wide phone, a shape for which one-handed use is a common concern. Android Authority suggests the feature would be a useful addition to other wide phones such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the upcoming iPhone Ultra, and even for book-style foldables with large internal screens.
The Pura X View also includes an AI function that can turn static images in certain ebooks into short video clips, though the showcased examples were not impressive, according to the report. The phone packs a 7,000mAh battery, 66W wired charging, and a large 200MP main camera with a 1/1.28-inch RYYB sensor. Huawei has not yet disclosed pricing or availability details.
