Huawei WATCH D3 Goes on Sale With Industry-First Low-Interference Ambulatory Blood Pressure Study

The launch comes as the global wrist-worn device market faces pressure. According to IDC, global wrist-worn device shipments in the second quarter of 2026 were 48.01 million units, down 4.3% year on year, with both smartwatches and bands under pressure. The industry is exploring growth through on-device AI computing and screenless band formats. Huawei's global wrist-worn shipments continue to lead, supported by the WATCH FIT series and a dense rollout of products for segmented markets.

Huawei WATCH D3 is built around active blood pressure management. The company says the watch is 11.3 mm thick, about 15% thinner than the previous generation, and uses a 1.92-inch AMOLED display. It comes in obsidian black, feather sand gold and mocha gold, with a soft, skin-friendly strap. The design is intended to make the device suitable for commuting, work, exercise and sleep.

The watch has obtained China's National Medical Products Administration Class II medical device registration and European CE-MDR medical device certification. Its main technical breakthrough is an industry-first low-interference ambulatory blood pressure study, which combines oscillometric micro-pump cuff measurement with photoplethysmography, or PPG, blood volume monitoring. During the day, it takes four high-precision micro-pump measurements; at night, it takes three. At other times, the PPG sensor continuously tracks blood pressure trends. The combination of precise measurement and trend tracking is intended to reduce the disturbance caused by frequent cuff inflation while maintaining data reliability.

The product also includes a multidimensional blood pressure measurement reminder system. In addition to scheduled measurements, the watch can sense the environment. When the temperature drops by 8 degrees Celsius or more, or when the user stays at an altitude above 2,500 meters for more than five minutes, the watch pushes a measurement reminder. For exercise, it supports medical-grade blood pressure measurement before and after workouts to help users understand exercise tolerance and adjust training plans.

Huawei has also launched a blood pressure health assistant, which the company says is an industry first, to support active blood pressure management. When the system detects abnormal blood pressure, it initiates follow-up interactions through multiple channels. With the professional knowledge graph of 301 Hospital and Huawei Xiaoyi large model, the system provides trend analysis, personalized health advice and detailed dynamic reports for follow-up visits.

Beyond blood pressure, Huawei WATCH D3 offers broader health monitoring. Its micro physical examination function has been upgraded to 17 health indicators and can generate a multidimensional report in about 60 seconds. New features include high uric acid risk research and coronary heart disease risk assessment. These join existing medical-grade functions such as ECG analysis, vascular health research and sleep apnea detection, extending the device from blood pressure monitoring to cardiovascular, metabolic and overall vital-sign protection.

Huawei is marketing the WATCH D3 as both a device for hypertension patients and a health gift ahead of China's National Day holiday. The official price starts at 2,988 yuan, and the price after national subsidy starts at 2,540 yuan. Buyers can receive a 688-yuan worry-free gift package and a 699-yuan annual care card. The company says the offer combines blood pressure monitoring, medical consultation and device protection for users and their families. Consumers are directed to official channels.
