IFA 2026 highlights: Acer DualPlay Mini, iRobot Roomba Max 875 Combo and more

The Verge picks top IFA 2026 gadgets, from Acer's DualPlay Mini to iRobot's carpet-sealing Roomba.

Acer's latest concept, the DualPlay Mini, is a Windows-based gaming handheld similar to its Predator Atlas 8. A swiveling design repositions the 8-inch screen above a mini keyboard, turning it into a tiny portable PC. While productivity for sprawling spreadsheets may be challenging, the device could handle email on a commute and connect to a larger display at work for demanding tasks.

Dell's 14S is a more affordable alternative to its thinner XPS 13, aimed at students and budget-conscious buyers. The base model has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, upgradeable to 16GB/1TB. It includes a 1080P webcam with face unlock, two USB-C ports, a headphone jack, and comes in four bright colors: linen, dusty rose, washed denim, and velvet green.

Priced at $1,199, iRobot's Roomba Max 875 Combo introduces "SealForce." When the robot detects carpet, a skirt lowers around the cleaning head to create a better seal, increasing suction for a deeper clean. It offers up to 35,000 Pa of suction, mopping, lidar and camera-based navigation, and can climb obstacles and thresholds up to 3.5cm tall.

Under Jsaux's new Voidjoy brand, the $49.99 SkyLark S1 Pro is a compact controller with drift-resistant TMR thumbsticks that are recessed for travel, analog triggers, and Bluetooth, USB-C, and 2.4GHz connectivity. With a 2.4GHz receiver, two S1 Pros can be paired to one transmitter, allowing players to swap character control in multiplayer games.

Acer's 16-inch Vero 16 continues the trend of repairable laptops with tool-free access to user-replaceable SSD and battery. The processor can be upgraded later but would require an Acer service center. Pricing is unannounced; the Vero 16 is expected early next year outside North America.

For original Nintendo Switch Pro controllers, Jsaux's $39.99 Elite Extender attaches to the back and adds four mappable buttons that can mimic multiple button presses. It has its own rechargeable battery but blocks Amiibo functionality while attached.
