IFA 2026 opens with Wi-Fi 8 routers, 4K projector, and LG chatbot

TP-Link introduced its first products targeting the next-generation Wi-Fi 8 standard, even though the spec itself is not finalized. The Archer 8 Ultra tri-band router and Deco 8 Ultra mesh system use the upcoming IEEE 802.11bn standard to address real-world connectivity problems rather than chase raw speed, the company said. The Archer 8 Ultra has 18 internal antennas and can deliver up to 19Gbps wireless and 10Gbps wired speeds. The Deco 8 Ultra, according to TP-Link, offers up to 22Gbps wireless and 10Gbps wired connectivity, with a three-pack covering 9,800 square feet and supporting over 200 connected devices.

JMGO announced that its Iris Ultra Max all-in-one Google TV projector is available outside China. The projector uses a new dual-iris system with two physical apertures in the optical path to control light scatter and brightness, producing a 10,000:1 native contrast ratio and 6,500 ISO lumens from a triple-laser light engine. It supports 4K resolution at 120Hz for smooth sports and gaming. The Verge noted that last year 6,000-lumen all-in-one projectors set a benchmark, but this year that level appears to be standard. The report also cautioned that JMGO's previous N3 Ultimate suffered color distortion at peak brightness, so independent reviews should be consulted.

LG revealed a conversational AI agent for its smart home platform called ThinQ Claw, which builds on the company's acquisition of Homey. LG says the chatbot can understand user intent and context, and help complete tasks by connecting and coordinating services and devices, including third-party products. The system is being demonstrated at IFA for the first time.
