IFA 2026: Tech Journalists Test Gadgets, Seek Reader Questions at Berlin Show
IFA 2026 opened in Berlin with The Verge and TechRadar on the ground testing new gadgets and hosting reader Q&As.
According to TechRadar, the show officially opened Friday and runs through Sept. 8 at the Messeplatz exhibition grounds. Most product announcements happened in the lead-up to the event, allowing reporters to seek out lesser-known gadgets.
The Verge’s news editor Dom Preston and senior smart home reviewer Jen Tuohy have spent the last few days roaming the show halls. Jen focused on smart home devices such as Philips Hue’s new 360-degree Liane rope lights and Anker Eufy’s MindBase smart home hub. Preston checked out bezelless concept smartphones, Motorola’s new Wear OS watch, and Acer’s flipping, swiveling DualPlay Mini concept handheld. The Verge is hosting a subscriber-exclusive AMA at 12PM ET Friday.
TechRadar’s team is also on the ground and inviting readers to submit questions in a live Q&A. The team noted highlights including Nvidia’s RTX Spark laptops and a lawnbot equipped with a mechanical arm. With around 200,000 people expected over the five-day event, both outlets are competing for hands-on time with the newest technology.
