Iiyama PC's gaming laptop with integrated stand promises up to 3°C cooler CPU
Iiyama PC's gaming laptop includes a built-in stand that improves cooling and typing comfort, the maker says.
The Level 15FX167 was spotted by VideoCardz on sale at Japanese retailer PC Kobo. Its configuration includes an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor 185H, 16GB of RAM, an Nvidia RTX 5060 GPU and a 1TB SSD. The stand is a separate flap that folds out from underneath the body, a different approach from the conventional kickstand used on devices such as Microsoft's Surface laptops.
Integrated stands in laptops are nothing new, but this type of fold-out foot is unusual in a gaming machine. Iiyama PC points out that the tilted angle also improves typing ergonomics. In portable gaming systems, cooling design involves a trade-off among fan noise, vent placement and heat-sink size; even a few degrees of extra thermal headroom can help maintain performance.
TechRadar says the idea is reminiscent of Asus's Ergolift mechanism, although Iiyama's is built into the bottom rather than the hinge. The report's author noted that the design feels like something that should have been thought of earlier. Whether other laptop makers will follow suit is an open question, and the folding stand, as a moving part, may become a potential weak point in daily use.
According to the report, the laptop is now available to buy at PC Kobo. Iiyama is the same brand known for its monitors and operates under the same parent company.
