IKEA and Xbox unveil full YXSTABY gaming furniture collection at Gamescom

IKEA and Xbox fully revealed their YXSTABY furniture line at Gamescom, featuring a thumbstick stool, D-pad cushion, and more.

As part of Xbox's ongoing 25th anniversary celebrations, the Swedish furniture giant and Microsoft's gaming brand teased the collaboration last week. The full lineup, dubbed YXSTABY, was presented at Gamescom, with Engadget reporting on the details.

The collection mixes decorative and functional pieces. Highlights include a classic Xbox green D-pad cushion, a stainless steel platter modeled on a D-pad, a rollable TV stand with rear storage, a toolbox for controllers and cables that doubles as a laptop stand, controller display boxes in two colors, and a side table on wheels with sliding doors. For many, the standout item is the thumbstick stool, available in black or green, which tilts as you sit on it.

IKEA designer David Wahl said the stool was designed to function as a usable seat while also feeling like a thumbstick from an Xbox controller. He told Engadget that it "tilts with you while you play," a feature that could be humorous for enthusiastic racing game fans.

The YXSTABY collection will be available in the US starting September 30, with prices ranging from $2.50 for a shopping bag to $180 for a wheeled side table. Other items include the $18 D-pad cushion, a $30 controller display, and a $150 TV stand.
