Insta360 X5 8K 360 Camera Falls to $465 on Amazon, $85 Below List Price

TechRadar's five-star 360 camera, the Insta360 X5, is selling for $464.99 on Amazon, $85 under its $549.99 list price, per the site's deal report.

The $85 reduction works out to roughly 15 percent off. TechRadar said retailers were listing the camera at $464.99 around the time its review was conducted, so the current figure is a good price rather than a new low. The camera has not dropped below that level, and $464.99 appears to be the general sale price, the site said.

The X5 records 8K video at 30 frames per second through two 1/1.28-inch sensors and a triple AI chip design, and it relies on FlowState stabilization with 360-degree horizon lock instead of a gimbal. Its hardware includes replaceable lenses, a four-microphone array with a built-in wind guard, a 2.5-inch screen and a microSD card slot. A rugged body and the invisible selfie stick effect, which hides the stick from the footage, are aimed at vloggers and travel shooters who want to choose their framing after filming rather than on location.

TechRadar's review credited the larger sensors with better video, particularly in low light, along with improved audio capture and lenses that can be swapped out easily. The review highlighted two shooting modes in particular. PureVideo is intended for night and low-light shooting and supports up to 8K at 30fps. InstaFrame captures two videos at once: a flat 1080p clip for immediate sharing and a full 360-degree version for pulling additional angles later. TechRadar noted that InstaFrame lowers the maximum frame rate to 30fps and removes HDR as an option.

The site recommends the X5 for vloggers and content creators who want 8K 360-degree footage, strong low-light performance and the freedom to reframe shots afterward. It advises against buying if you already own an X4, since the review found few changes to justify an upgrade, if you record long 8K clips, because battery life drains quickly, or if you simply want a standard action camera that produces a flat image.

As an alternative, TechRadar pointed to the Insta360 X4 Air, which it scored 4.5 stars and described as carrying "the best bits from the X5, squeezed into an even more portable body." A starter bundle of that model includes a selfie stick, a lens cap and a spare battery.
