iOS 27.2 Brings Siri Conversation Recall and a Reworked Podcasts App to CarPlay
iOS 27.2 reworks CarPlay's Podcasts Home tab and lets Siri recall past chats and read voicemails and Safari history.
According to 9to5Mac, CarPlay receives two main changes. In the Podcasts app, Apple has added New Episodes and Continue Playing sections to the Home tab and removed Up Next altogether, replacing it with the two new sections. Listeners who want the latest installments of shows they follow now find them under New Episodes, while a show they want to resume from where they left off sits in Continue Playing.
The second change concerns Siri. As on the iPhone, the assistant in CarPlay can now recall past conversations, so a user can ask it to repeat earlier recommendations, such as cafes it suggested the previous week. Siri in CarPlay can also draw on more sources for detailed answers, including voicemails, Safari history and the Reading List, attendees listed in Calendar events and photos attached to Messages.
The update makes smaller changes as well, including a new Music app icon that drops the app's familiar red for a monochrome look: a white background with a black music note, or black with a white note when dark mode is on.
Some users report a loss after installing the release. On the CarPlay subreddit, users said their infotainment systems no longer support APTV, which lets them play videos on the car screen, once they updated to iOS 27.2.
