Samsung Electro-Mechanics Posts Record Q3 Profit on AI Infrastructure Demand

Samsung Electro-Mechanics posted record third-quarter revenue and operating profit on AI data center and automotive component demand.

Operating profit for the July-September period jumped 165.5 percent from a year earlier to 691 billion won ($516 million), while revenue rose 30.3 percent to 3.76 trillion won, the company said in a regulatory filing. Both were quarterly records. Net profit increased 115.7 percent to 485 billion won.

The company attributed the improved earnings to higher sales of multilayer ceramic capacitors, or MLCCs, for AI data centers, including servers and network equipment, and for automotive applications. It said sales grew in its component business across all application areas, led by AI-related products, and that sales of flip-chip ball grid array substrates for AI data centers and automotive applications expanded.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics also reported increased shipments of camera modules for next-generation platforms of global electric vehicle customers.

The company said it is working to meet long-term MLCC supply agreements with major global technology companies and plans to strengthen its market position by developing advanced products earlier. It also aims to respond promptly to rising customer demand for package substrates used in AI data centers and to expand sales by supplying camera modules for next-generation EV platforms.
