iOS 27.2 to Bring Design Changes to Apple Music and Books
iOS 27.2 will give Apple Music a black-and-white icon and blue accents and revise Apple Books’ reading controls, according to 9to5Mac.
In Apple Music, the update extends a recent visual rebrand. The app icon drops the old red color for black and white, and the same shift appears inside the app. The active tab in the Music tab bar now uses blue instead of red, while Library sections such as Playlists, Artists and Albums are entirely monochrome. Home Screen and Today view widgets also lose the former red background and use black instead, 9to5Mac reported.
The Books app receives changes centered on reading. Progress bars are now available to track reading location. A menu in the bottom-right has a new icon and uses the standard Liquid Glass menu for consistency with other apps. The bookmark control has been removed from that menu and now appears as a standalone button in the upper-right of the reader view. The X button moves to the upper-left, and the Back button moves to the lower-left and is larger than before.
9to5Mac said the Books changes were likely motivated by the introduction of the iPhone Duo. The report said the device makes a strong e-reader and that Apple had a reason to avoid bespoke UI elements for menus and buttons, because its stock options reposition dynamically for different iPhone models in a way the old Books controls likely would not have.
