iOS 27 Adds Birthday Animation for Calls to Saved Contacts
iOS 27 adds a birthday animation to the Phone app when calling contacts with saved birthdays, 9to5Mac reports.
The feature was spotted by X user Tiino-X83, according to 9to5Mac. The report noted that Apple Watch users are likely already familiar with the birthday treatment. At midnight on a contact's birthday, watchOS displays a “Happy Birthday!” notification accompanied by the same fireworks animation Apple uses to ring in the New Year.
Apple's full release notes for watchOS 27 also say the Apple Watch Smart Stack will now surface “birthday reminders for a close contact,” the report said. According to 9to5Mac, that makes birthdays a recurring theme across Apple's 2027 system updates. The report also asked readers whether they had spotted other small details in this week's updates.
