iOS 27 Adds Call Context for Business Calls

9to5Mac described an example in which a confirmation code from Mail could appear when a user calls an airline. The feature is intended to give users relevant information while they are on the phone with a business, without requiring them to search for it first.

In the 9to5Mac writer's own use, after booking flights with Southwest Airlines and later calling the carrier about a change, the iPhone automatically displayed flight information on the call screen. The device also offered to read the confirmation number aloud during the call.

The report said Call Context was able to show details for another Southwest flight stacked beneath the first one. If the most relevant information does not appear at first, it should in most cases be a quick tap away, according to the report.

Call Context is initially available only in English. It is limited to iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch models that support Apple Intelligence, the report said.

The feature follows two Phone app additions in iOS 26 that the 9to5Mac writer cited as favorites: Call Screening and Hold Assist. The report said Call Context had quickly become a favorite in iOS 27 and described it as a straightforward addition likely to prove popular. iOS 27 also includes new features for apps including Notes, Wallet, Maps and Messages, according to the report.
