9to5Mac reported on Sept. 22, 2026, that after a user copies an item to the iPhone clipboard and then switches to another app or opens another text field, iOS 27 automatically surfaces a paste suggestion above the keyboard. The shortcut is intended to remove the need to open the copy/paste menu and select paste manually.

The feature also shows a preview of what is on the clipboard in the top keyboard row. If the copied item is text, the preview displays the text; if it is an image, it shows a small thumbnail. 9to5Mac described the addition as a convenient option that appears automatically when the system recognizes that a user has copied something and may want to paste it elsewhere.

iOS 27 arrived with Siri AI and new Apple Intelligence features as major highlights. Apple also added upgrades to Apple Wallet, Messages, CarPlay and other areas, 9to5Mac reported. The publication said many of the new features may be overlooked by average iPhone users, but it expects the paste shortcut to be used often.

9to5Mac said it would not have thought to ask for such a feature, but that using the iOS 27 beta over the summer quickly proved it convenient in everyday use. The report did not provide additional details about availability beyond iOS 27.
