iOS 27 Adds Siri Mode, Custom Controls and iPhone 18 Pro Camera Tools
iOS 27 updates the iPhone Camera app with a new Siri mode for AI-compatible models, customizable controls and exclusive iPhone 18 Pro tools, according to 9to5Mac.
The Siri mode is available on all AI-compatible iPhones, but users must first enable Siri AI support, according to the report. The mode moves visual intelligence features that had been tied to Camera Control into the full Camera app, while adding capabilities powered by Siri AI. 9to5Mac said users can capture and act on what the iPhone sees. Examples include translating text in another language, adding details from an event flyer to a calendar, getting care instructions for a plant or retrieving nutritional information for food.
Apple has also made controls in each Camera app mode fully customizable in iOS 27, 9to5Mac reported. In modes such as Photo, Video and Portrait, users can open the controls panel by tapping the six-dot icon in the bottom-right corner. iOS 27 adds an Edit button to the top-left corner of that panel. After tapping Edit, users see options for additional controls and can add them to the default controls at the top of the screen. The change is intended to let users remove controls they do not use and make favorite controls easier to reach.
On iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, iOS 27 adds more Camera app features. A new set of Pro controls described as exclusive to the iPhone 18 Pro includes lens aperture, shutter speed, white balance and a histogram viewer. Photographic Styles 3 adds new texture and grain controls for users of the latest iPhones. Apple Reference Image allows users to capture, view and share reference images, which the report describes as digital negatives that help users verify what the camera originally captured.
