iOS 27 Beta 4-6 Updates and Unreleased Apple Products Revealed in macOS 26.7 RC
Apple has released iOS 27 Developer Beta 4, 5, and 6, adding new features. Meanwhile, code in macOS 26.7 RC hints at unannounced devices like a foldable iPhone and camera AirPods.
Beta 4 introduced a new auto-download feature in the TV app that automatically downloads the next two episodes of a show you are watching, then deletes them after viewing. The Photos app gained a default zoom-to-fill option for images with aspect ratios close to the iPhone screen, which can be turned off in Settings. Siri's voice settings interface was unified across all iPhone models, and some voices now support adjustable speaking rate and expressiveness. A new option lets users choose how many lines of Siri's request preview are displayed, and an Accessibility feature can keep the user's spoken request visible on screen. Apple also added Log 2 video encoding on iPhone 17 Pro models, allowing for more dynamic range in post-production. Wi-Fi Assistant can now be disabled for individual networks, and AirPods adaptive mode controls were added to Control Center. Some media outlets spotted pluralized battery status strings in the code, possibly related to a foldable iPhone.
Beta 5 redesigned several system icons, including Safari, Siri, and Settings, and increased the maximum transparency level of Liquid Glass. The Wallet app's custom Pass creation feature, initially U.S.-only in the first beta, was expanded to more countries. The search interface now lets users choose how many suggested apps appear, and the Control Center change that showed cellular info alongside Wi-Fi was reverted.
Beta 6 focuses entirely on bug fixes, with no new features or changes, according to Apple's release notes.
MacRumors found extensive references to unreleased products in the macOS Tahoe 26.7 RC build. Bloomberg has previously reported Apple's development of a home hub with a 7-inch screen, Face ID, and Siri AI; the code includes identifiers J490 and J491, possibly corresponding to a desk stand/speaker dock version and a wall-mounted version. A new code B525 may indicate a new HomePod mini, and a mysterious J229 device with sensors and image capture capabilities could be a home security camera or a companion sensor. The code also hints at a potential homeOS, with the name "Pebble" linked to it. Camera-equipped AirPods appear in the build with references to B790, startup failure strings, Visual Intelligence settings, and a demo video found by X user Aaron. Other audio products such as B518, B522, and AirPodsPro1,4 may be upcoming Beats or fourth-generation AirPods Pro. For iPhones, codes V62, V63, V64, V67, and V68 are believed to correspond to iPhone Air 2, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and a foldable iPhone Ultra. Mac references include J804 as an M6-equipped 14-inch MacBook Pro, J833/J834 as next iMacs, and K114c/K114s/K116c/K116s as possibly high-end OLED MacBook Pro or MacBook Ultra. iPad codes 510 and J511 may point to a next-generation iPad mini with OLED and a new A-series Pro chip. N109 is thought to be a second-generation Vision Pro or a budget variant. A new Apple TV remote identifier ATVRemote1,5 also appeared.
The same code revealed traces of Apple Intelligence and Writing Tools features tied to the Chinese market, including content security updates, temporary restrictions after repeated security alerts, and requirements that certain text be sent to designated services for processing, indicating ongoing localization and compliance mechanisms.
