iOS 27 beta bug removes Digital IDs from Wallet for some users

According to Engadget, users reported on X that their Digital IDs suddenly disappeared from the Wallet app. The issue appears to be a small bug in the beta software, and affected users can resolve it by re-adding their passport to the Wallet app.

Apple's Digital ID, introduced in 2025 under iOS 26, lets users store a digital version of their passport in the Wallet app. It is not a replacement for a physical passport for entering another country, but it can be used at TSA checkpoints across more than 250 US airports. The feature is also supported in iOS 27, including the beta.

The glitch serves as a reminder of the risks of running beta software on devices used daily. While Apple has said it spent significant time refining iOS 27 to improve performance, beta versions remain unfinished and can crash or cause unexpected interactions. Users who want to try new features such as Siri AI and the Liquid Glass tweaks early are advised to avoid installing betas on their primary iPhone, or to install them only on a spare device. The official iOS 27 release is not far away.
