iOS 27 Bug Puts Unremovable iCloud Storage Badge on iPhone Settings App
Some iPhone users on iOS 27 are seeing a persistent red badge on Settings that urges them to activate iCloud storage, even when they already have ample storage, according to 9to5Mac.
According to 9to5Mac, tapping the notification simply opens the iCloud storage purchase screen. Dismissing it does not clear the badge. The glitch appears on devices running the release version of iOS 27 and iOS 27.2, the report said. 9to5Mac described it as an annoying little iPhone notification glitch affecting some users.
The notification can appear even when a user has plenty of available iCloud storage, such as a 2 TB family Apple One plan, according to 9to5Mac. That means the alert is not limited to accounts that are near or over their storage limit.
Apple has sometimes used the Settings app to promote offers such as Apple TV trials and to remind users about AppleCare warranties, the report noted. But 9to5Mac said this particular notification appears to be a mistake rather than an underhanded way to push an iCloud upsell.
Some users have reported that signing out of their Apple Account on the device and logging back in causes the alert to go away, according to 9to5Mac. The report said Apple could also resolve the issue quickly with a backend change, but until then affected users have no clear way to get rid of the badge.
