iOS 27 Gives Find My More Flexible Location Sharing, New Interface and Apple Watch Integration
Apple's iOS 27 update lets Find My users hide their location from specific people without notifying them, adds a Liquid Glass interface and a unified Apple Watch app, according to 9to5Mac.
The sharing controls now let users share their location for a custom duration or until a set date and time, rather than choosing only from fixed options. Users can also pause sharing with individual people at any time.
The most significant change is that location can now be hidden from a specific person without sending that person any notification or alert. According to 9to5Mac, the other person is not notified when sharing is paused, stopped or resumed. Previously, turning off location in the Find My app hid it from everyone, and that action also sent no notification. In iOS 27, the same control can be applied person by person. To manage it, users see a new "Hide Location" toggle on each person's card in the app. If sharing is paused with someone, that person sees a "No Location Found" message in their own Find My app.
On the design side, Find My in iOS 27 has been refreshed with Apple's Liquid Glass interface. The app largely missed out on Liquid Glass in iOS 26, but the new version has a tab bar design that matches Apple's other apps. The main page now shows more specific location information, so users no longer have to tap each person to see which street they are on. New iconography has also been introduced, and the "Items" tab is now marked by an AirTag-style icon.
For cellular Apple Watch users, sharing location will automatically use the Apple Watch when the user is away from an iPhone or iPad. The Apple Watch also gains a redesigned, unified Find My app that combines people, items and devices in one interface.
9to5Mac notes that iOS 27 adds features across almost all of Apple's apps, including Messages, Apple Music and Wallet, with Find My receiving its own set of changes.
