iOS 27 Users Report Unresponsive Touchscreens and Stuttering Performance
Some iOS 27 users say their touchscreens have become unresponsive and that performance stutters when swiping or switching screens, according to posts on Reddit.
The reports appear across multiple Reddit threads. It is not clear how widespread the problems are. In the case of unresponsive screens, users say the issue can occur on almost any part of the interface, while the slowness and stuttering are most often reported when swiping or switching between screens.
Several workarounds have been suggested by users. One said restarting the phone restores an unresponsive screen, at least temporarily. Another said a frozen app can be unfrozen by switching to the home screen and then back to the app. A third Redditor found that having too many app icons on a home screen can produce a stuttery launch animation, so reducing the number of apps on each screen might help.
Those measures are either temporary or require users to change how they set up their phones, so they are not ideal. A longer-term resolution may arrive on its own once the initial system-wide indexing that follows an update is complete. If that does not happen, affected users may have to wait for the next iOS update, which TechRadar reported would hopefully carry a proper fix.
For users who have not yet updated to iOS 27, TechRadar suggested considering a delay until it becomes clearer how widespread the issues are, while noting that bugs of this kind usually affect a minority of users and that the risk is probably not high. The publication also noted that iOS 27 has generally been well received and includes a long-awaited AI overhaul for Siri.
