iPadOS 27.2 to Add Siri Contextual Popup and Apple TV Profiles
According to 9to5Mac, iPadOS 27.2 will arrive later this month with a Siri contextual popup for selected text and user profiles in the Apple TV app.
The Siri contextual popup is designed for text selected with a trackpad or mouse. In iPadOS 27.2, when a user highlights text, a Siri icon appears to the left of the selection. Hovering over that icon with the cursor immediately expands it into an "Ask Siri" text field, allowing the user to ask about the highlighted content. If the user is writing, the popup also offers suggestions including "Proofread," "Rewrite," and "How does this sound?" so assistance can be requested with a click. 9to5Mac said the interaction first debuted on the Mac in macOS Golden Gate. The report also noted that Siri AI is a major improvement over the old Siri and that its author uses it frequently on iPad, often with the CMD + Space shortcut because Siri and Spotlight are now integrated.
The Apple TV app on iPad will gain user profiles in the same update. 9to5Mac reported that iPadOS 27.2 brings over the profiles feature that tvOS already offers on Apple TV 4K. When the Apple TV app opens on iPad, a new profile selection screen appears at startup. After a viewer is chosen, the app automatically updates its queue, playback history, and content recommendations for that profile. For parents, the profiles account for content restrictions. When a child's profile is active, the child will only see films and TV shows that match the age settings previously set.
The report says iPadOS 27.2 is a new iPad software update and directs readers to additional coverage for more features. It also lists iPad accessories including a 100W USB-C fast charging power adapter, a tomtoc tablet sleeve bag, a Baseus 10ft USB-C cable, and Apple Pencil Pro.
