iPhone 18 Pro Launch Day Brings AirPods Pro 3 Discounts and $320 Off an M5 MacBook Pro
Apple's iPhone 18 Pro reached customers on September 18 alongside the Apple Watch Ultra 4, Series 12 and AirPods 5, as retailers cut AirPods Pro 3 to $199, discounted new Mac minis and took $320 off a 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro.
Amazon listed AirPods Pro 3 at $199, $50 below the $249 list price, which the report described as arguably the best accessory deal available for the new phones. AirPods Max 2 was priced at $449 against a $549 list price, and the AirPods 5 released the same day started at $125 against a $129 list price. The entry-level AirPods 5 set includes active noise cancellation, while a version with a wireless charging case and on-stem controls costs $149, or $50 less than the flagship AirPods Pro 3.
Pre-order discounts also returned on Apple's newest desktop machines, which 9to5Mac said are set to launch next week. Amazon listed the Mac mini with an M6 chip, 16GB of memory and a 256GB drive at $880 against a $899 list price, and the 16GB/512GB version at $1,070 against $1,099. A 24GB/512GB Mac mini M6 was listed at $1,270 versus $1,299, a Mac mini with an M5 Pro chip, 24GB of memory and a 512GB drive at $1,669 versus $1,699, and a Mac Studio with an M5 Max chip, 36GB of memory and a 512GB drive at $2,450 versus $2,499. The report noted these prices have appeared and disappeared several times.
Several Apple Watch Series 12 configurations still carried early pre-order discounts at Amazon as of the morning, although the report called the markdowns unremarkable. It said delivery times were beginning to slip into the following week.
The steepest single discount described was on a 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro. B&H listed the model with 24GB of memory, a 1TB drive and a Space Black finish at $1,899 shipped, against an effective regular price of $2,219 that includes a $20 upgrade to the official 96W Apple power adapter. Amazon does not offer the base M5 MacBook Pro with 24GB of memory and the 96W charger, and its listing for the configuration sat at $2,049, or $150 more than B&H. For buyers considering a MacBook Air instead, Amazon held the lowest prices on two M5 configurations, with a 13-inch model with 24GB of memory and a 1TB drive at $1,649 against $1,799, and a 13-inch model with 16GB of memory and a 1TB drive at $1,449 against $1,599.
Satechi marked the iPhone launch by cutting 50 percent off a selection of its USB-C charging and data cables, with prices starting at $4.50. The cables are rated for up to 240W, are braided and color-matched, and the discounts are available on Amazon with free Prime shipping and on Satechi's own site using two different discount codes, according to the report. Amazon's fall Prime Day promotions were also live, covering Apple, Pixel and Anker products as well as $20 off Grubhub orders.
