A new report says iPhone 18 Pro pre-orders may begin Saturday, September 12, a day later than usual, with a midnight PT start instead of 5 a.m. PT.

Apple announced this week that its big iPhone event will take place on September 9. Normally, pre-orders open on the Friday of the same week, with devices shipping the following Friday. This year, the usual pre-order day would fall on Friday, September 11.

The report says a reliable source told Macwelt that pre-orders will indeed begin on Saturday, September 12. The source also said Apple plans to open pre-orders at midnight PT instead of the customary 5 a.m. PT.

A factor cited in the coverage: 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. The last time a typical pre-order date fell on September 11, Apple moved pre-orders back a day to Saturday, September 12.

Macwelt acknowledged that it incorrectly reported the iPhone 17e release date earlier this year, so the specific start time could be off even if the September 12 date proves accurate. Apple is expected to fully unveil the iPhone 18 Pro at its event in less than two weeks.
