Jabil Makes Integration and Simplification the First Step Toward AI at Scale
Jabil's SAP IT director explains how the manufacturer reduces system complexity with SAP Integration Suite before expanding AI, aiming for a consistent data backbone across global operations.
According to the interview, Jabil's footprint has accumulated disconnected systems, site-specific tools, and manual workarounds that create data silos and hinder early problem detection and confident decision-making. To address this, the company developed a "simplify-first, then-innovate" mindset, as Manohar puts it. He said any innovation without simplification is going to add more complexity, and modernization or transformation should deliver measurable business value.
Jabil, headquartered in St. Petersburg, Florida, operates across industries with about 140,000 employees and serves more than 400 leading brands. Manohar explained that standardization across regions is not straightforward because each site runs with different levels of process maturity, legacy systems, and localized workflows, while regulated businesses add compliance requirements.
The company is focusing on connecting processes end-to-end across the supply chain and establishing a consistent data backbone using SAP Integration Suite. Manohar said the backbone of any modern organization is data, and before automating or applying AI, data needs to flow seamlessly across systems.
For employees, integrated workflows provide shared data visibility, reduce manual reconciliation, and allow more time for acting on insights. For the company, the aim includes improving real-time visibility into supply chain events, speeding responses to disruptions, and reducing operational risk.
Looking ahead, Jabil is exploring predictive supply chain insights, intelligent exception handling, and AI-driven planning and forecasting. Manohar said simplicity at scale is a competitive advantage, and technology investments must ultimately connect to business value and operational resilience.
