Jackery Explorer 1000 V2 Falls to $519, TechRadar's Top Pick for Power Outage Prep

Jackery has cut the price of its Explorer 1000 V2 portable power station, with the Dune White model now $519 and the black version $499, according to TechRadar.

The Explorer 1000 V2 carries a 1070Wh LiFePO4 battery and delivers 1500W of continuous AC output, with a 3000W surge rating for devices that draw more power at start-up. TechRadar's reviewer, Alastair, wrote that the feature set "makes it an ideal choice for anyone needing mains-style power away from the home or office and will run most domestic appliances up to 1500W without issue," adding that the unit's UPS, or uninterruptible power supply, technology makes it a good fit for home power backup.

The unit provides three AC outlets, two USB-C ports, one USB-A port and a 12V car outlet. One USB-C port supports up to 100W output, the second up to 30W, and the USB-A port up to 18W. An Emergency Super Charge mode can take the battery from 0% to 100% in an hour, according to the report. Jackery rates the LiFePO4 cells for 4,000 charging cycles before capacity falls to 70% of its original level, and the station includes the company's ChargeShield 2.0 charging and battery-safety system along with a five-year warranty.

The station can also be recharged from compatible solar panels, including Jackery's bifacial 200W panels, which TechRadar notes makes it useful on longer outdoor trips.

The Dune White model's move from $589 to $519 amounts to a $70 saving, or roughly 12%. The black version, which TechRadar says carries the same features, is $60 off at $499. Neither price is an all-time low: the Explorer 1000 V2 sold for $449 last year, the report states.

TechRadar lists homeowners preparing for outages, campers, RV owners and anyone needing portable power for laptops, phones and small appliances as the target buyers. It cautions that the 1500W continuous output limit rules out high-power appliances such as large electric heaters, and that buyers who only need occasional phone or laptop charging would be better served by a smaller and cheaper station.

The same report mentions other Jackery units currently on promotion, including a model with 3584Wh of capacity that expands to 21kWh, 3600W of output, LiFePO4 batteries rated for 6,000 cycles, 30dB operation, a wheeled design and support for both 120V and 240V appliances. A second promoted model is rated at 7200W with 14,400W of surge output and supports 120V and 240V appliances including air conditioners and water heaters, with Jackery claiming up to 13 days of backup power for home emergencies.
