KYY K3-1 15.6-Inch Portable Monitor Cut to $67.99 for Prime Day

Amazon has cut the KYY K3-1 15.6-inch portable monitor to $67.99 from $79.99 for Prime Day, the lowest price TechRadar reports for the 1080p USB-C display.

The monitor weighs 1.7 pounds and measures about 0.35 inches thick, dimensions TechRadar describes as compact enough to slip into a bag for travel or work away from a desk. Its 15.6-inch IPS panel runs at 1920 x 1080 resolution with a 60Hz refresh rate, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and 178-degree viewing angles. The matte screen is intended to reduce reflections in changing locations.

Connectivity includes two full-function USB-C ports and a mini HDMI port, which the publication says allows the screen to work with a range of devices, including laptops, compatible consoles and smartphones. Two built-in speakers are included, along with HDR support, FreeSync, a blue-light filter and flicker-free technology. A protective smart cover doubles as a stand, and TechRadar notes the display can extend or duplicate a laptop screen.

In his four-star review of the earlier K3 model, TechRadar's Mark called it a "cheap and cheerful portable monitor that considers the scenarios in which these devices are most likely to be used." He listed portability, flexibility and a very low price as the model's main strengths. The K3-1 is described as a revised version of that display.

TechRadar's buying guidance recommends the K3-1 for people who work from a laptop and miss the extra screen space of a desktop setup, since it is light and slim enough to carry alongside a notebook or to use with a compatible console or phone. It advises against the purchase for buyers who need a high-resolution panel or who intend to leave the display permanently on a desk, because the 1080p, 60Hz specification is built around portability rather than image density or refresh rate.

The publication also listed two alternatives in the same category. One is a 15.6-inch portable IPS monitor with 1080p resolution, HDR, dual USB-C ports, mini HDMI, built-in speakers, a 178-degree viewing angle, blue-light reduction, portrait mode and a protective smart cover. The other is a 15.6-inch dual-screen extender that creates a triple-display setup, using 1080p IPS panels with 300-nit brightness, 210-degree rotation, a built-in kickstand, single-cable USB-C connectivity, multiple display modes and driverless operation on Windows.

The deal reported by TechRadar on 7 October puts the 15.6-inch Full HD portable display below $70 for the first time, against a list price of $79.99.
