Leak Details Fitbit Edge, Google's Next Screen-Equipped Fitness Tracker
Google is reportedly preparing to launch the Fitbit Edge, a small-screened fitness band with seven-day battery life, GPS and limited app support that would sit between the Fitbit Air and the Pixel Watch 5. Pricing and a launch date have not been confirmed.
Images published with the leak show a traditional fitness band with a small, oval display, a button on either side and a sensor array on the back. Android Headlines said the sensors look more similar to those on the Fitbit Air than those on the Pixel Watch 5, though additional sensors for tracking more metrics may be included. The leaked images show the band in black, green and orange variants, colors that correspond closely to the Obsidian, Olive and Canyon finishes offered on the Pixel 11 Pro. The band appears to use a pinch mechanism for swapping straps rather than the attachment system used on the Pixel Watch.
On specifications, the report says the Fitbit Edge will offer up to seven days of battery life, GPS, an altimeter for elevation tracking and automatic activity recognition. It is also said to display notifications from a paired phone and to support a limited set of apps, including Google Maps, YouTube Music and Find My Phone. The device is expected to work with both Android and iOS, unlike the Pixel Watch line.
The Edge would fill a gap in Google's Fitbit range. Google has not released a new Fitbit Charge since 2023, leaving the future of that family uncertain, and the report describes the Edge as a tracker focused on health and fitness rather than a full smartwatch. Within Google's wearable lineup, the Fitbit Air is designed to be as distraction-free as possible while the Pixel Watch 5 offers a more comprehensive smartwatch experience; the Edge appears positioned between them.
According to Android Headlines, Google could launch the Fitbit Edge this month, which would put it in stores ahead of the holiday shopping season. Previous Fitbit Charge models ranged from $129 to $179, while the Fitbit Air starts at $99. Android Headlines estimates the Fitbit Edge could land somewhere between $149 and $199. Google has announced no pricing or release date.
