Leak Points to Apple 'Second-Party' Home Accessories Beyond LG, Including Schneider Devices

Code found in iOS 27.2 lists a Schneider-branded thermostat and a temperature/humidity sensor as 'second-party' HomeKit devices, suggesting Apple's co-development push extends beyond its reported work with LG.

The leaker posting as pdfu, cited in a report by the Apple-focused outlet 9to5Mac, said the two Schneider products and the new LG accessories are the only items currently carrying a "second-party" label in Apple's HomeKit database. Accessories placed in that category will "receive special treatment by the OS," according to the post.

The designation surfaced after a run of leaks describing Apple's smart home plans. First-party devices expected to launch next week include a new Apple TV 4K, a product referred to as "HomePad" and a second-generation HomePod mini.

Separately, Apple has reportedly been developing a suite of home accessories with LG. Those products are described as co-built by the two companies but shipping under LG's brand, and leaked images published in recent days showed smart lock, thermostat, camera and doorbell devices in LG styling.

The new code does not establish that Apple worked with Schneider as closely as it reportedly has with LG, and no launch timing, pricing or product specifications for the Schneider items were included in the report.

Apple has not commented publicly on the reported accessories, and the company has not confirmed the existence of the second-party program.
