Leaked images reveal Apple and LG home cameras, video doorbell
Leaked images and specifications may have revealed Apple and LG co-developed home accessories, including a wired video doorbell, indoor and outdoor cameras, and a floodlight camera.
A day before the images surfaced, Mark Gurman reported that Apple and LG had co-developed a suite of home accessories that includes a smart lock, thermostat, video doorbell, indoor camera, outdoor camera, floodlight camera and temperature sensor, 9to5Mac said. Earlier on Wednesday, leaker pdfu shared images and details for the smart lock, thermostat and temperature sensor. The camera-focused products then appeared through X user @ringo_tech.
9to5Mac noted that @ringo_tech has a small following but a solid track record of publishing smart home accessory details. The account also posted detailed product specifications that seemed credible, including component and wireless connectivity information.
According to those posts, the Video Doorbell Wired has a main camera and a second downward-facing camera. It includes an AC/DC converter, a USB board and two Wi-Fi antenna connections. The doorbell supports 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi with WPA2/WPA3 security and has a Thread antenna.
The Floodlight Cam has separate left and right lights. It includes infrared LEDs, an ambient-light sensor window, microphone components and a speaker. The camera supports dual-band Wi-Fi with WPA2/WPA3 and has Thread and NFC antennas. It shares design elements with the Outdoor Cam, according to the post.
The Outdoor Cam Plug-In has a ball-joint mount and a power adapter. It includes infrared LEDs, an ambient-light sensor window, microphone components and a speaker. The product uses O-rings and waterproof grease for sealing. It supports dual-band Wi-Fi, WPA2/WPA3, and has Thread and NFC antennas.
The Indoor Cam Plug-In has a motor-and-gear mechanism that appears to provide vertical tilt. It includes Hall IC components, infrared LEDs, microphone components and a speaker. It supports dual-band Wi-Fi with WPA2/WPA3 security and has Thread and NFC antennas. Additional photos of the products are available through the linked posts, 9to5Mac said.
Based on Gurman’s reporting, Apple worked with LG to co-develop and design these products as part of its forthcoming smart home overhaul. But the accessories will ultimately launch with LG branding. 9to5Mac also asked readers whether they are in the market for the rumored video doorbell and camera products.
