Leaker: OPPO Find X10 Pro Max to be first phone with three 200MP cameras

Digital Chat Station said on Weibo that the Find X10 Pro Max will use a 200MP ISOCELL HPC main camera, a 200MP telephoto camera and a 200MP ultrawide camera. The main sensor is said to rely on Samsung’s DeepPix technology for improved dynamic range and reduced noise. No specifications for the telephoto lens were provided.

While 200MP sensors have become common in phone main and telephoto cameras, and the OPPO Find X9 Ultra and vivo X300 Ultra each packed two 200MP cameras earlier this year, a 200MP ultrawide camera has not appeared on a commercial handset. Android Authority noted that the resolution could let users crop an ultrawide shot to roughly 1x to 3x, though crops from an ultrawide lens are typically weaker than shots from a primary camera. The outlet added that OPPO could use 16-in-one pixel binning to capture brighter, cleaner ultrawide photos and enable more flexible macro photography.

Android Authority also suggested that a 200MP ultrawide sensor could help video stabilization. Many makers use high-resolution ultrawide sensors for steady-shot modes and crop the sensor to limit shakiness, so the extra headroom might allow 8K super-steady capture. The report acknowledged that almost no phones on the market offer even 4K ultra-stabilized recording, and said subject-tracking features such as Samsung’s My FanCam could also benefit from a 200MP ultrawide unit.

OPPO has not confirmed the Find X10 Pro Max. Digital Chat Station earlier pointed to a September or October launch alongside the other Find X10 models. Android Authority said it is keen to see what OPPO can do with a 200MP ultrawide camera after the company’s Find X9 Ultra.
