Leaker Says Apple to Pay About $250 per iPhone Duo Panel in Three-Year Samsung Display Deal

A leaker says Apple and Samsung Display signed a three-year exclusive supply deal for foldable panels used in the iPhone Duo and later models, with each panel costing about $250. Apple has not confirmed the claim.

Instant Digital described the panel as “one of the most expensive core components” of the device. The report noted that while memory costs are expected to comfortably lead the iPhone 18 Pro’s bill of materials, the same may not be true for the iPhone Duo.

Apple has not publicly confirmed the agreement or the price. According to the report, there have not been credible reports on the iPhone Duo’s expected bill of materials, which would break down component costs across displays, cameras, processor, memory and other components. Teardowns and other analyses may provide a better idea once the device hits shelves next month, the report said.

Apple has released environmental details about the iPhone Duo. It said the device was built with the environment in mind and drives progress toward its goal of becoming carbon neutral across its entire footprint by 2030. The company said the phone is made with 35 percent recycled content overall, including 100 percent recycled cobalt in the battery and 100 percent recycled titanium in the 3D-printed hinge cover. Apple also said the iPhone Duo is manufactured with 60 percent renewable energy, such as wind and solar, across the supply chain, and meets its standards for energy efficiency and safe chemistry. Its paper packaging is 100 percent fiber-based and can be easily recycled at home, Apple said.

The supply claim remains attributed to a single leaker and has not been verified by Apple or Samsung Display.

Editor's Summary The report says Apple will pay about $250 per foldable panel under a three-year exclusive deal with Samsung Display for the iPhone Duo and later models. Apple has not confirmed the agreement, and no credible bill-of-materials breakdown is available. Teardown analyses after launch may clarify the panel’s cost position.
